This policy covers the AddressHate website and dashboard at addresshate.org and our publication, Digital Hate Review. It sets out what we collect, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and how to ask us about it.

Section 01
AddressHate is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit registered in the United States, EIN 39-2727982. We run the sites described here and are responsible for the information described in this policy.
The policy applies to addresshate.org: the public dashboard, the research studies and scorecards, the team and contact pages, the mailing-list sign-up, and Narrative Intelligence, the invite-only workspace inside the dashboard. Most of the site can be read without an account.
It also applies to Digital Hate Review (opens in a new tab), our publication, which is a separate site with its own subscribe form. Where the two sites differ, this policy says so.
It does not cover the AddressHate Annotator browser extension, which has its own privacy policy (opens in a new tab), the social platforms whose public content we study, or any other site we link to. Each of those has its own practices.
Section 02
We collect three kinds of information: what you give us, what our servers record automatically, and public content gathered for research. We keep the three apart.
The dashboard shows posts, comments and media that were publicly visible on social platforms when we collected them, at present mainly from YouTube and X. We gather this through the platforms' own interfaces and, for the cross-platform figures, through Brandwatch, a social-listening provider. A collected item can include the public username of whoever posted it, the text, and a copy of any image or video, which we archive because posts are often deleted later.
This is research material about public conversation, not information about visitors to this site. We label it against a published taxonomy, aggregate it into the figures on the dashboard and in our studies, and show it post by post so that a claim can be checked against its evidence. We do not link it to information about the people who use the site, and we do not use it to make decisions about any individual.

We use the information above to:
We do not use personal information for advertising or profiling, we do not use it to train AI models, and we do not sell it or license it to anyone.
Section 04
Narrative Intelligence uses large language models to analyse the documents you upload and to answer the questions you ask. To do that, we send the document text and your question to a model provider, through OpenRouter for analysis and to Google Vertex AI for search indexing, and receive the result back. Your name, email address and account are not part of the request. Under both providers' terms for API use, what we send is not used to train their models. Nowhere else on the site sends your information to an AI provider.
The AI assistants discussed in our research, such as ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini, are subjects of that research. They are not part of this site.
Section 06
addresshate.org runs on Google Cloud in the United States, in the us-central1 region, and that is where its databases, archived media and logs are stored. Digital Hate Review is hosted by Vercel, a United States company. The mailing list is held by Mailchimp and contact-form mail passes through Resend, both United States companies. If you use either site from outside the United States, your information is transferred there and handled under this policy and United States law.

Backups may hold a copy of deleted information for a short time before they are overwritten.
Section 07
Every connection to both sites is encrypted. Sign-in on the dashboard is handled by Google, so we hold no passwords, and Digital Hate Review has no accounts at all. Access to restricted pages and to each workspace is checked on the server on every request. Staff administer the sites with individual accounts that can be revoked. Sign-in, contact and subscribe endpoints are rate-limited.
No system is completely secure. If we learn of a breach affecting your information, we will tell you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.
Section 08
Wherever you live, you can ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to stop using it for a particular purpose. Write to ksaiki@addresshate.org. We will check that the request comes from you and reply within 30 days. There is no charge. If the law where you live gives you the right to complain to a supervisory authority, you can do that as well.
Section 09
The site is written for adults, and accounts and workspaces are for researchers and professionals aged 18 or over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe we have, tell us and we will delete it.
Section 10
We will update this policy when what either site does changes. The date at the top is the date of the last change. If a change materially affects people with accounts, we will email them or show a notice at sign-in before it takes effect.
